New Comics 05/04/2005

So I meant to post about the new comics coming out both on Tuesday and then on Wednesday but somehow I flaked out both days and didn't do it. Good thing is I managed to read what I'd bought yesterday so here are my reviews.

DC COMICS

BLOOD OF THE DEMON #3 - Batman vs. The Demon is a knock down drag out fight. I like this title so far. It's not great but readable for now. The art in this issue is not as strong as the first two though.
SEVEN SOLDIERS SHINING KNIGHT #2 (OF 4)
SUPERMAN #216 - I have a real problem with this whole 3 issue cross-over arc. First, it could have been told in one issue, two tops. Second, we have a deus ex machina, where not one, but two beings intervene on behalf of the heroes to defeat the villain. I'm sorry, but I like my heroes to save the day.
VILLAINS UNITED #1 (OF 6) - If villain titles are your thing then this is a book for you. Good book, nice art, nice writing.
DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 (OF 6)

MARVEL

GLA #2 (OF 4) - I mostly buy this because I love Paul Pelletier's art, and it's top notch. The book initially appears to be played for laughs but there is a definite dark under current to the book and I'm wondering how it will end. Plus I loved the look of the new character Grasshopper.
ROGUE #10 - Cancelled with issue 12. Too bad.
SHANNA THE SHE DEVIL #4 (OF 7) - Frank Cho draws beautifully and that by itself is worth the price of admission. Good thing because this story is going nowhere fast. If I have to read the line, "Holy Buckets!" one more time...
